In July we joined forces Myrtle Floral Design, Deftig Hair and Creative Heroes for an experimental styled shoot with multi-faceted photography team from Hannah Ruvé. That’s where we met Afrikaans film star Mila, who was the model. After the shoot, Mila commissioned Tru/vai for her red-carpet dress, a little black number, for the premiere of the hit-Afrikaans film, Stroomop. The backless double-layer stretch dress, with our signature exaggerated bow detail raked in more than a few compliments, and even featured in the glam-pages of You and Huisgenoot.
Working with Mila was such a treat, the three of us had these hysterical girly chats every time she came for a fitting, and it surprised us that this glamorous girl was so down-to-earth.
Following the success of the Stroomop premiere dress, we started playing around with the idea of wearable art for Mila to don at the Kyknet Silwerskermfees in August. Working with a simplistic, yet elegant silhouette, we added dramatic gold paint, and provocative waist-slits – which resulted in a breathtaking look.
We are thrilled for having had the opportunity to create one-of-a-kind pieces for Mila, which accentuated her dynamic personality. Remember the name. There’s no stopping this dynamo.
